Launched with the 2018 vintage, Groth’s Oakville Neighbors Series explores the diversity of Oakville Cabernet through single-vineyard grower lots that stand on their own as a distinct expression of the appellation.

The Groth family, along with retired Winemaker Emeritus Michael Weis, has worked with Alex Vyborny, whose family owns the vineyard from which the Game Trail Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced, for 32 years. Alex is a well-known and beloved vineyard manager who has been here since 1973, overseeing many of Napa Valley and Sonoma County’s most prestigious vineyards. Tasting Notes

This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon shows red fruit with savory aromas of bay leaves and sage. With a round, full entry, the palate also displays red fruit with layers of cherry, a good tannin/acid balance and a bright, slightly savory finish.

The Cabernet Sauvignon for this wine is from the Vyborny family’s vineyard in the southeast corner of the Oakville AVA along the Silverado Trail, directly across from the Rector Reservoir Dam below the Vaca mountains. In fact, rocks from this property were used to build the dam, which tells you something about the vineyard’s soil composition. This is a prized area of Oakville, with prestigious neighbors and crumbly, red iron soils sloughed off the Vaca range.

Pairing

Braised short ribs with root vegetables or a big ol’ juicy hamburger will be excellent companions for this wine. If meat isn’t for you, a rich wild mushroom risotto will make an excellent pairing.

Where can you ship to?

All states except AL, AR, DE, IN, LA, MS, OK, RI, UT, WV and WY. Please note it remains illegal to ship wine to any community in the state of Kentucky that prohibits the local sale of alcohol ("dry communities").

When will I receive my wine?

Ground shipping orders will arrive in 7-10 business days. Orders with Overnight, 2-Day and 3-Day shipping will ship the same business day if placed by 9 a.m. Pacific. We do not ship over the weekend.

When will I receive my tracking information?

Your tracking information will be emailed to you once your package is scanned and the wine is in transit.

SHIPPING DEADLINES:

Orders placed by 9 a.m. Monday through Friday will ship the same business day. Orders placed on weekends or holidays will ship the following business day.
