Launched with the 2019 vintage, Groth’s Oakville Neighbors Series explores the diversity of Oakville Cabernet through single-vineyard grower lots that stand on their own as a distinct expression of the appellation.

The Mayor of Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a vineyard owned by Ren Harris, and his wife, Marilyn. Dennis and Judy Groth met Ren, then a real estate agent, two years before they moved to Napa. Ren and his partner, Jean Phillips (who later founded Screaming Eagle), guided Dennis and Judy to what is now our Oakville Estate, much as they introduced other Oakville vintners to their own properties

Tasting Notes

The 2022 Mayor of Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon unveils aromas of fresh-sawn oak, dark berries, tobacco leaf, and bay laurel, complemented by hints of almond cookies. The palate is bold and structured, with flavors of mouth-coating blackberry, red plum, and blackcurrant framed by muscular tannins that promise exceptional aging potential.

Wine Specs

Vineyard

Ren’s vineyard is on the west side of Oakville at the base of the Mayacamas mountain range. Because the sun exposure is so different there, the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes ripen as much as two to three weeks later than our Oakville Estate fruit.

Pairing

The bold structure and dark fruit stand up beautifully to the richness of dry aged ribeye, while its firm tannins cut through the marbling with ease. Charred broccolini adds a smoky, bitter edge that complements the wine’s savory depth and elegance.

Where can you ship to?

All states except AL, AR, DE, IN, LA, MS, OK, RI, UT, WV and WY. Please note it remains illegal to ship wine to any community in the state of Kentucky that prohibits the local sale of alcohol ("dry communities").

When will I receive my wine?

Ground shipping orders will arrive in 7-10 business days, except in extreme weather when orders will be held until safe to ship. Orders with Overnight, 2-Day and 3-Day shipping will ship the same business day if placed by 9 a.m. Pacific. We do not ship over the weekend.

When will I receive my tracking information?

Your tracking information will be emailed to you once your package is scanned and the wine is in transit.

SHIPPING DEADLINES:

Orders placed by 9 a.m. Monday through Friday will ship the same business day. Orders placed on weekends or holidays will ship the following business day.
