This is the fifth vintage from our historic Reserve vineyard after a replanting of the vineyards took us out of production for five vintages. The new rootstock, clones, trellising system and vine row orientation have proven to be the perfect combination of variables for the Groth Reserve Cabernet. Location is the paramount factor providing the perfect blend of diurnal temperatures, rainfall amounts, and soil profiles for our wine growing endeavors.

Tasting Notes

The 2009 Groth Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon presents a beautiful youthful color, ranging from deep reddish to purple. Aromas of blackberry and black stone fruit mingle with savory game meat and an herbal undercurrent, creating a complex and enticing nose. On the palate, lush and vibrant tannins frame rich black plum flavors, accented by a touch of spice. With excellent balance and a silky-smooth texture, this wine delivers elegance and depth in every sip.

22 months in barrel. The Reserve lots were blended in the cellar, and aged for approximately half of the total cellar time.

This wine represents the finest lots from the Reserve Vineyard on the Groth family’s Oakville Estate. The vineyard is a 12.10-acre band with a disproportionately high amount of chert, a hard and compact sedimentary rock comprising quartz crystals and fossils. The site’s unique soil profile and ideal climate combine to produce the ultimate expression of Oakville — elegant and age-worthy wines from one of the world’s top Cabernet appellations. The vineyard is sustainably farmed and has been Fish Friendly Farming certified since 2014.

Pairing

A well-marbled rib-eye simply seasoned and grilled over a wood fire should be a near-perfect companion for this big red wine. If meat isn’t for you, this wine will also pair beautifully with a rich wild mushroom risotto.

Where can you ship to?

All states except AL, AR, DE, IN, LA, MS, OK, RI, UT, WV and WY. Please note it remains illegal to ship wine to any community in the state of Kentucky that prohibits the local sale of alcohol ("dry communities").

When will I receive my wine?

Ground shipping orders will arrive in 7-10 business days, except in extreme weather when orders will be held until safe to ship. Orders with Overnight, 2-Day and 3-Day shipping will ship the same business day if placed by 9 a.m. Pacific. We do not ship over the weekend.

When will I receive my tracking information?

Your tracking information will be emailed to you once your package is scanned and the wine is in transit.

SHIPPING DEADLINES:

Orders placed by 9 a.m. Monday through Friday will ship the same business day. Orders placed on weekends or holidays will ship the following business day.
