2022 Estate Sauvignon Blanc, Oakville

Groth
Estate Grown

800 cases produced

As Groth’s first white wine to carry the Oakville appellation, the Estate Sauvignon Blanc is sourced exclusively from our family’s Oakville Estate, in blocks once reserved for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. This vineyard, which we have farmed for over 40 years, is our greatest resource, situated in the sweet spot of an AVA long recognized for producing some of Napa Valley’s finest Bordeaux-style wines, both red and white.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

Groth 2022 Estate Sauvignon Blanc beams with symphonic aromatics: ripe mango, papaya, nectarine, tangerine and citrus peel open to hints of white tea leaf, marzipan, white flowers and river rock. The palate reveals a beautiful balance of acidity and viscosity, plush and layered with an enticing interplay of Key lime and ripe stone fruit, driving lifted and long, finishing round yet bright with a whisper of sea air salinity. — Director of Winegrowing Ted Henry

Vineyard

In 1994, the Groth family replanted the Eastern side of their Oakville Vineyard from Cabernet Sauvignon to Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, recognizing the potential of the clay soils there to produce white wines of great texture, depth and complexity. This bottling marks the first Groth white wine grown exclusively on the family’s Oakville Estate. The vineyard is sustainably farmed and has been Fish Friendly Farming certified since 2014.

Pairing

This versatile wine can pair well with a range of foods from a fresh fish ceviche to a grilled peach salad to citrus-marinated chicken kebab. In cooler seasons, it is also a delicious match for butternut squash risotto or potato leek soup. A Groth family favorite is the Potage Parmentier recipe from Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking.
